A rich exfoliating cream cleanser from Irish brand Doctrine with jojoba and bamboo grains, matcha leaf powder, shea butter and castor oil. Gently buffs away impurities and dead skin cells leaving skin soft, smooth and luminous. Scented with green tea and honeysuckle.

Jojoba and bamboo grains are spherical and non-abrasive, rolling rather than scratching across the skin, which makes this a gentler physical exfoliant than many. Shea butter and castor oil mean skin is nourished rather than stripped in the process. The matcha is mostly aesthetic but adds antioxidant support. Pairs well with the Lactic Acid Matcha Mask as the first step in Doctrine's Matcha Power Peel system.

1. Apply to wet skin and massage in gentle circular motions.
2. Focus on areas of congestion or roughness, working for 30 to 60 seconds.
3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.
4. Use 2 to 3 times per week, or daily if your skin tolerates it well.

Physical. The exfoliation comes from jojoba grains and bamboo stem extract. Unlike crushed nut shells or sugar which can have sharp, irregular edges, jojoba grains are smooth and spherical, rolling across the skin to lift dead cells in a controlled way rather than scratching.
Doctrine recommends 2 to 3 times per week for most skin types. If your skin is not sensitive and tolerates it well, daily use is possible. If you are also using chemical exfoliants like the Resurface Lactic Acid Matcha Mask or leave-on AHAs elsewhere in your routine, alternate them rather than using both on the same day.
The Polish Exfoliating Matcha Cream Cleanser is the first step in Doctrine's Three-Step Matcha Power Peel. Step 1 is Polish (this cleanser), Step 2 is Resurface (the Lactic Acid Matcha Mask) and Step 3 is Repair (the Barrier Repair Cream). Each step can be used independently or combined for a weekly peel treatment.
As a rinse-off product the contact time is brief. The formula is free from retinoids and high-concentration actives. It contains fragrance and jasmine oil, so check with your midwife if you have fragrance sensitivity during pregnancy.
