A clinical vitamin C and arbutin brightening serum that targets stubborn pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

10% L-ASCORBIC ACID: The active form of vitamin C at a clinical concentration, brightening, supporting collagen production, and neutralising free radicals from UV exposure.

ARBUTIN: A nature-identical melanin inhibitor that works through a different pathway than vitamin C, targeting pigmentation production at the source alongside the vitamin C.

DUAL-PATHWAY BRIGHTENING: Vitamin C fades existing pigmentation and blocks UV damage, while arbutin inhibits melanin production. Together they address pigmentation from two directions.

The Obagi-C FX Clarifying Serum combines 10% L-ascorbic acid with arbutin for a dual brightening approach. L-ascorbic acid is the most potent form of vitamin C for pigmentation and antioxidant protection; arbutin inhibits melanin production separately, so they work on pigmentation through two different pathways at once. The alcohol base speeds penetration, which is part of why the formula is effective, but also means it's better suited to oily or normal skin than dry or sensitive types.

1. Use in the morning on cleansed, dry skin.
2. Apply 5 to 7 drops to the entire face and neck, or to targeted pigmented areas.
3. Allow one to two minutes to absorb before applying moisturiser and SPF.
4. Can be used in the evening too, though once daily in the morning is sufficient for most people.

The C Fx Clarifying Serum is a liquid vitamin C serum from the Obagi-C range, primarily used in the morning as the antioxidant and vitamin C step before moisturiser. The serum uses a higher vitamin C concentration in an alcohol-based liquid; the creams use arbutin in a cream base.
The alcohol content speeds penetration but can feel sensitising on dry, reactive, or rosacea-prone skin. For sensitive skin types, Clear FX or Metacell Renewal B3 are better options. For oily and normal skin, the formula absorbs well without issues.
Yes. L-ascorbic acid and arbutin are safe during pregnancy. The formula is also fragrance-free.
Yes. Apply the C Fx Clarifying Serum in the morning, retinol at night, and they won't conflict. In the morning, always follow with SPF.
