Hydrolysed marine collagen is collagen derived from fish skin and scales, broken down into smaller peptide units for better absorption through the gut wall. Marine collagen is predominantly Type I, the most common type in human skin, hair, and nails.
The dose and flavour. This sachet contains 2.5g of hydrolysed marine collagen per serving. The Marine Collagen Plus contains 5g per sachet, comes in tropical flavour, and explicitly excludes biotin, which at supplemental doses can interfere with blood test results. For a higher dose, choose the Plus.
Most clinical studies on marine collagen show measurable improvements in skin elasticity and hydration from eight to twelve weeks of daily use. Consistency matters more than timing.
Marine collagen from fish sources is generally considered safe, but there's limited specific research on collagen supplementation during pregnancy. Check with your GP or midwife before starting any new supplement.
