This is the AlphaRet product to reach for if you've already been using the standard AlphaRet Overnight Cream and want to step up — or if you have thicker, more resilient skin with established retinoid tolerance and want more aggressive texture correction from your overnight treatment. The higher Glycolic Acid concentration is the key differentiator: it significantly increases the resurfacing efficacy and enhances the performance of the AlphaRet molecule for more pronounced improvement in skin texture, tone and surface quality. If you're new to retinoids, start with the standard AlphaRet Overnight Cream first and transition to the Intensive after 1 to 2 bottles. If you're managing significant photodamage, stubborn texture, persistent fine lines or uneven tone that hasn't fully responded to standard retinoid products, this is worth considering.

Both contain the patented AlphaRet molecule and the same ultra-hydrating supporting blend. The Intensive contains significantly more Glycolic Acid — the highest concentration in the AlphaRet range — which provides more powerful resurfacing and enhances the performance of the AlphaRet molecule for more accelerated results on texture, tone and visible ageing. The standard Overnight Cream is the better starting point for most people. The Intensive is for those who have used 1 to 2 bottles of the standard and want to step up, or for experienced retinoid users with thicker, more resilient skin wanting more aggressive correction.
SkinBetter specifically recommend the Intensive for those who have completed 1 to 2 bottles of the standard AlphaRet Overnight Cream, for those with thicker skin or established retinoid tolerance, and for those still experiencing texture concerns after using the standard version. Do not start with the Intensive if you're new to retinoids.
The AlphaRet molecule is specifically formulated to minimise irritation even at higher concentrations — this is the whole point of the technology. However, the higher Glycolic Acid level makes the Intensive more potent, so skin that's not adequately prepared may experience more sensitivity. Establish tolerance with the standard first.
No — it's a corrective overnight treatment, not a moisturiser. For most skin types the hydrating blend provides sufficient overnight moisture. For very dry skin, apply a separate moisturiser after the Intensive if needed. It won't replace a daily moisturiser.
